I am drawn to the small details that bring a design to life, which is why embroidery has become such an important part of my practice. Recently, I have been experimenting extensively with hand embroidery, using it as a tool to add depth and nuance to my costume work. Much of the work featured here was created for the film Awake, where I hand-embroidered garments for main characters and extras alike. Each stitch reflects individual aspects of character while contributing to a larger narrative—much like the interconnected stitches of an embroidery piece itself.
