This project was created to further explore the application, varieties, and handling of fake blood within a costume design environment. I wanted to pay homage to classic gothic vampire heroines such as Ellen Hutter from Nosferatu, who inspired the nightgown and floral headdress, and Lucy Westenra from Dracula, for her iconic staked-heart effect. To achieve this, I constructed a stake insert attached to the chest and layered congealed fake blood over base then allowed a more liquid formulation to run naturally down the body for a more visceral and realistic effect.
